Where the data comes from

We index the publicly available stock pages of Australian truck, trailer and machinery dealers, and we ingest direct feeds from dealers and dealer-website platforms who have agreed to supply them. Listings supplied under agreement are marked Listing partner in our dealer directory. We do not index private-seller listings, and we do not collect seller names, phone numbers or email addresses.

Our crawler identifies itself, respects robots.txt and crawl-delay directives, and requests one page at a time per site. Our crawler policy sets this out in full.

Prices

Every price on this site is the dealer's advertised asking price at the moment shown on the listing. It is not an achieved sale price and it is not an offer. We show the observation timestamp on every listing because prices in this market move, and stock sells without the listing coming down.

We label GST treatment exactly as the dealer stated it — + GST, inc GST, or a note that the dealer didn't say. We never convert between the two or infer one. Where a dealer publishes no price we show POA rather than estimating.

Valuations and comparable prices

Our valuation range and the “above/below comparable listings” note on listing pages are computed only from listings in this index. We require at least three comparable listings before publishing any figure, and we use the median rather than the mean so one outlier can't distort it. We always publish the comparable set so you can check the working.

Because these are asking prices, actual sale prices typically land 5–15% lower. Treat the range as a market observation, not a formal valuation.

De-duplication

The same machine legitimately appears in more than one place — a dealer's own site, a group site, and a marketplace microsite. We match on VIN or serial where published, then on dealer plus stock number, then on a fuzzy match across make, model, year and price. It works well but it is not perfect, and we don't claim it is.

Known limits

  • Our coverage is not complete. Some dealers use website platforms we haven't built support for yet; some ask not to be indexed, and we honour that.
  • Some listings will be sold but still advertised on the dealer's site. We remove listings as soon as the dealer's page drops them.
  • Specifications are as published by the dealer. We normalise units and naming but we don't verify the underlying claims.
  • Hours and kilometre readings are self-reported by the seller.

Ranking

Results are ordered by your chosen sort — newest, price or year — and nothing else. No dealer pays to be listed and no dealer can pay to move up the results. We earn nothing from clicks to dealer sites. Our revenue comes from equipment finance, and we say so on every finance form.

There is one paid position on this site and it sits outside the results. Category pages can carry a Featured strip of three listings above the results, and a dealer can buy a slot in that strip. Where they have, the slot is labelled Promoted. Where nobody has bought it, the strip is filled automatically — recently listed stock with photographs, a stated price and complete specifications — and the note under the heading says so. Either way it changes nothing about the order of the listings underneath it, and no filter or sort you apply is affected by who has paid us.

Corrections
