Privacy policy

Last updated 6 August 2026

Find Equipment Sales is a search platform for trucks, prime movers, trailers and heavy machinery advertised for sale in Australia. This policy explains what personal information we handle, why we handle it, who we share it with, and what you can do about it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

Who we are

This site is operated by Find Equipment Sales. We are the entity responsible for the personal information described in this policy, and we are the entity you deal with when you contact us about it.

We are independent of the dealers whose stock appears on this site. Where you submit a finance enquiry, we refer it to our finance partner — who that is, and what they receive, is set out under “Who we share it with” below.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to do the job you asked us to do.

  • Enquiry and finance details. When you ask about finance, request a valuation or send us a question, we collect your name, email address, phone number and, if you give it, your ABN, the amount you want to finance, your timeframe and any notes you add.
  • Listing interest. If you enquire from a listing page, we record which listing it was, the advertised price and the dealer, so the person who calls you back knows what you are looking at.
  • Technical information. Standard web server and analytics data — IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referring site and timestamps.
  • Saved searches and preferences, if you choose to set any up.

What we do not collect

Our index is built from equipment listings published by dealers on their own business websites. We collect the specifications of the machine — make, model, year, price, hours or kilometres, location, stock number — and the address of the dealer's listing page. We do not collect the personal information of private sellers, and we do not index private-seller advertisements at all. We do not collect names, phone numbers, email addresses or residential addresses from the websites we index.

We do not collect sensitive information as defined in the Privacy Act, and we do not ask for government identifiers, bank account numbers or card details through this website.

Why we collect it

  • To respond to your enquiry and arrange the equipment finance you asked about.
  • To provide the valuation, search and alert features you use.
  • To improve the site — which categories people search, which filters get used, where people get stuck.
  • To meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including record-keeping obligations that apply to credit activities.

Who we share it with

This is the part worth reading properly. If you submit a finance enquiry, we share the details you gave us with banks, non-bank lenders and financiers in order to obtain indicative terms or an approval for you. That is the entire purpose of the enquiry, and it cannot be done without disclosing your details to them. Each lender handles your information under its own privacy policy.

We may also share personal information with:

  • Service providers who operate parts of our business on our behalf — hosting, email delivery, customer relationship management and analytics — under contracts that restrict what they may do with it.
  • Credit reporting bodies and reference agencies, where a formal credit application is lodged with your consent. An initial enquiry through this site does not involve a hard credit enquiry and does not affect your credit score.
  • Regulators, courts or law enforcement, where we are required or authorised by law.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not pass your contact details to dealers. If you want to speak to a dealer, you contact them directly through the link on their listing.

Overseas disclosure

Some of the service providers we use to host this site, send email and measure traffic store data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Specifically, when you submit any form on this site — a finance enquiry, a valuation request, a dealer signup or a private listing — the details you enter are delivered to us by Formspree, a form-delivery service operated from the United States. That means the information in the form, including your name, email address, phone number and any ABN you give us, is disclosed to a recipient outside Australia in order to reach our inbox.

This site is also hosted by Vercel, a United States company, which processes the requests your browser makes and provides our traffic measurement. That measurement is cookieless — it counts page views and referrers in aggregate and does not set a cookie on your device or build a profile of you across other websites.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember your filters, and understand how the site is used in aggregate. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as well if you do. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles about you.

How we keep it secure, and how long we keep it

We hold personal information in access-controlled systems, restrict access to staff who need it, and use encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee against every risk. We keep enquiry records for as long as we need them for the purpose they were collected and to meet our legal obligations, and we destroy or de-identify them when we no longer need them.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct anything that is wrong, out of date or incomplete. Email contact@findequipment.com.au and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge for making a request. We may need to verify your identity before we release information.

You can also ask us to delete your enquiry record. We will do so unless we are required to keep it — for example, where it forms part of a credit file we are obliged to retain.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, tell us at contact@findequipment.com.au. We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to resolve it within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can take the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Dealers and listing removal

If you are a dealer and you want your listings removed from this site, you do not need to make a privacy request — just email takedown@findequipment.com.au and we will action it within 48 hours, permanently and without asking why. See our takedown page.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the business changes. The current version is always on this page with the date it was last updated at the top. If we make a change that materially affects how we handle information we have already collected from you, we will tell you.
